Project 365 #41

#41 of 365 Daily Drawings

Inspiration: Thinking about Remembrance Day

Result: Merchant Mariners who were literally the life line to Europe (Kitty style)

Materials: Pentel 0.3 HB, Micron 005, 02 pens in a Moleskine plain journal

Location: At home

Note: Casualty rates for the Merchant Marines was the highest of all the services during WWII ~ 1 in 10 Canadian sailors lost their lives delivering desperately needed supplies from North America. The American Liberty ship crews faired slightly better with 1 in 26 deaths, but the fact remains that without these fearless seamen braving the roaming Wolf packs of U-2 boats in the North Atlantic, there would have been no fuel, food or weapons reaching the Allies in Europe....period.
