X Marks the Spot

A month or so ago, I wanted to retire my Logitech F710 and get a new controller. Since the Logitech F710 has the PlayStation controller formfactor, and the fact that I find the Xbox controller formfactor more comfortable (yes, including the duke controller!), I was on the hunt for an Xbox One style controller.

Of course, I always wanted the actual Xbox One controller, but thought I needed to buy a propietary powerpack and more importantly buy a wireless dongle to make it work wirelessly on my PC.

So I found the MSI GC30 that was pretty sweet at first, until the left analog stick was screwing up and had to replace it with a brand new GC30 since it was still under warranty, but lo and behold, after the same 3 weeks of gaming, the GC30 left analog stick screwed up again. Not wanting to go back to the shop and have it fixed or replaced yet again, I said you know what, I will shell out for the Xbox One controller, the powerpack, and the wireless dongle.

Thankfully, as I learned last night, that the later models of Xbox One controllers are Bluetooth capable devices and that I can actually use my AA batteries afterall in these controllers since its first iteration lol so I got to use my Bluetooth dongle that I already own to pair it with my PC and have my Eneloop AA batteries that are always basically charged to power up my controller wirelessly.

Seeing that this is really meant for Xbox One and that I rarely hear their controllers breaking unless by accident or deliberate, here's hoping the analog sticks last as long as my Logitech F710 that is still going strong to this day.
