Making of Gayna (ornament)/Naksha (designed) Bori (Sundried lentil paste) is a traditional practice of Midnapore Districts, in the Indian state of West Bengal. Such fried ornamental bori with rice, Moog dal (a special variety of scented lentil), lemon, and homemade curd in an earthen pot, are always a delicacy in our traditional Bengali cuisine.
The two handmade fans are made from dried palm leaves painted in raw vegetable colors, are traditional folk art of Bengal, practised in a few districts of West Bengal. These are used as hand fanning devices in hot summer days. We the Bengali people are traditionally used to eat on banana leaves or lotus leaves, on special occasions. They were essentially missing in the presentation, for unavailability in lockdown period.
Nothing could have been a simpler and delicate way to enjoy a Sunday in the time of lockdown.
