Alaska is, obviously, an extraordinarily hostile environment. The weather is frigid, the roads are coated in ice, and the wildlife can be dangerous. One of the most significant affects is on battery life. Temperatures in the winter months can fall to -60 for many days . I recommend visiting in March, for reasons beyond avoiding accidental cryogenic suspension.The aurora, for me, remains one of the primary attractions of the arctic.
