Beach time in Longyearbyen (explored )

78th parallel north Svalbard - island of Spitsbergen. At the World’s Northernmost City

the sun sets each year for the very last time on October 25th and it will not rise above the horizon again for four months. The sun officially returns to Longyearbyen on March 8th, when it is finally high enough above the horizon to illuminate the steps of the old hospital. Shooting by the Longyearbyen beach .Notice the Arctic sea smoke (fog ) over the sea ice which is formed when very cold air moves over warmer water. The effect is similar to the "steam" produced over a hot bath or even a hot spring .in late February the sun would peek over the horizon, stay just high enough to turn the sky every color of gold, orange, and pink that you could imagine, and then it would disappear again.
