Kyanjin Gompa, Nepal

At 3800m asl, this place is absolutely beautiful. A vast plain surrended by majestic mountains. You can spend half a day up and down Kyanjin Ri at 4330m or further up to 4770m. If adventurous, can go further to other nearby mountain and lakes. The people here who are mostly Tibetan of descens are extremely friendly. Make some friends here if you have time to venture around. Can be very cold event in November . The name Kyanjin comes from a local myth that Kyanjin Gompa (monastery) was built on a rock that looked like camel ribs. Kyan means “camel” and jin means “ribs.” It’s believed that the Gompa is about 280-300 years old.
