Silent Submersion

Frozen methane bubbles at the Abraham Lake in Alberta, Canada.

The bubbles are formed by bacteria feasting on dead vegetation, fish and animals at the bottom. When the bacteria digests these things, methane bubbles form and head toward the surface, and in the winter they freeze before reaching the top. The result is these beautiful white bubbles frozen in time just beneath the surface of the ice.
