Marble at the sight
Details:- Water bath is a darkroom paper safe opened with blue acrylic sheet mounted vertically at rear of the shot. This created the blue reflection on the water surface.
Diy laser trigger consisting of laser pointer shining across the surface onto a photo diode connected to an Arduino microcontroller programmed to trigger camera with off camera flash. When beam is broken a signal from the microcontroller signals via a remote flash trigger to switch off the laser, hence no sign of laser light in the shot . D200 shutter lag time of 57ms allowed the beam be broken and the marble to bounce before image captured. Increasing or decreasing the height from which the marble is dropped determines the delay time. Lit by a trusty Metz CT45 in "Winder" mode to ensure flash duration was short enough to freeze the action. Image captured to laptop using a combination of DcamCapture tethering software and Fastone image viewer both of which are excellent freeware applications IMHO. Next attempt will be to use mirror lock-up to shorten lag time. More to come. Originally intended as an animal and bird friendly laser trigger so maybe that will be the next test.!!
