Pentax 6x7. 90mm f2.8. Fuji Velvia 100.

Another from the mad dash to shoot all of my Velvia 100 before it couldn’t be processed anymore. The early morning light is my favorite and I constantly miss it because I’m too lazy and sleep. I wake up just as the sun is rising but by then it’s too late. When I was taking this shot I was thinking of the film Days of heaven from Terrance Malick, the most beautiful North American film of all time. The sweeping vistas of the high plains of Canada are breath taking and the production teams use of magic hour for most of the film is done to perfection. I miss Velvia 100 quite a bit because it worked for portraits and landscapes. Provia can do both as well and it’s my favorite color film (currently available) but it doesn’t have the Velvia “pop” that can push landscapes into the extraordinary.
