Lower Newlands, Teynham, Kent

Another walk down memory lane. Hall and crosswing houses were built in large numbers in medieval Kent. Lower Newlands, Teynham is good example from the late 14th century. In the late 15th or early 16th century the hall was partly floored and a timber and plaster chimney, parts of which survive in the roof, were inserted.

This pen and ink study became the basis for a pencil copy which I gave to a colleague on her retirement.
