Jenkin Crag, Ambleside, Cumbria

We stopped off at Jenkin Crag on our back to Ambleside from Troutbeck. The rain off until we were ready to leave the Crag, a surprisingly busy place given its remoteness at the end of a spur of Wansfell. The rocky outcrop feels like it overhangs the lower hillside, above the road from Windermere to Ambleside as it winds alongside Windermere lake. The view of the lake is tremendous, including the landmark of Wray Castle on the eastern shore, which I included in the sketch. A quick application of watercolour over an initial pencil sketch in my pocket size Moleskine sketchbook was all I had time for as the drizzle returned for the last part of our walk.
