Church of St Nicholas, Haxey, Isle of Axholme, Lincolnshire

Searching for something else entirely I recently found this card. I drew the original pencil study in 1991 and offered it to St Nicholas' church when they were raising funds for restoration work on the bell tower. The church is often referred to as the 'cathedral of the Isle of Axholme'. The Isle is low ridge which rises above the fenland in north Lincolnshire, between the River Trent and Doncaster. The fens were drained in the 1630s by Dutch engineers. The church has some masonry from the 11th century, a north arcade of the 12th century, 14th century chancel and 15th century clerestory. Being the local parish church of Carolynn and her family it is where we, and several of Carolynn's siblings, were married and children christened.
