Lunch at the Kirkstone Pass Inn
Our reward for clambering up The Struggle was lunch in the pub. The Kirkstone Pass Inn has a sign over the door claiming it dates from the 15th century. The present building is probably a bit later but retains a circular stone staircase at the rear, opposite the front door. The view is from what may have been an outer room, on the lower side of the building. Whatever it's date of construction it is situated at one of the highest points in Britain. While were there the electricity, provided by a wind turbine, failed causing the bar staff to have to start the back up generator, and the water mains were out of action which meant bottled water had to be used for beverages other than beer etc.
