The snake charmer are an essential part of the atmosphere of the Jemaa el-Fnaa. Entering this big square from any side, you already can hear the shrill sound of the "gaita" which is accompanying the show of these groups. Of course I could not resist to get some closeups from the upright standing Cobras.
As I was getting closer, shooting the snakes from a low position, it did not take long before I felt something cool and smooth around my neck, whilst another guy tore the mobile phone off the hands of my wife and made some photos of me with the snake on me. Exactly what I wanted to avoid.
We could only surrender to this situation and then pay. That was not cheap maybe because our bad negotiating skills.
