"GENTLE GIANT"
Some weeks back I visited my mother in Ontario who draws human and animal portraits for fun. She does wonderful graphite and pastel works. On her work table lay a 4x6 hard copy photo of a little girl in full equestrian getup with a very determined expression on her face. Next to her was a giant horse who, although a 1000 times stronger than her looked peaceful as could be. There was no doubt as to who was in charge!
I had been itching to paint children for a while so I asked if she would mind me borrowing the photo. She had tons of other commissions waiting to get done so I inherited the job, painting and printing the final copy for my mother's friend, actually the grandmother of the little girl. When she received the final framed print from my mother she was ecstatic, although a problem arose: was she gonna give the painting to her grandchild as was initially intended, or was she going to keep it all to herself? :)
