Rising from the ashes 2

White flannel flowers, Actinotus helianthi, blooming after the major fires which occurred in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia, in 2019 - 2020. The flowering took place in December 2021.

The flowering took place about nine months after the mass flowering of the related pink flannel flower, see the photo in the second comment. Unlike the pink flannel flower, the white flannel flower may flower when there have been no major fires. However, the displays are less dramatic if there have been no intense fires.

The photo in the first comment gives an indication of how dense the patches of flowers were.
