The quest for nectar

A small bumblebee about to leave a flower of the beartongue, Penstemon "Garnet". Thanks to bego vega for correcting the identification. The bee had crawled right into the tubular flower.

Taken at the David Austin rose gardens and nursery, Albrighton, Shropshire, England.

I was trying to capture bees in flight so I took the photo at 1/1600 sec but the light was far from perfect so I used a high ISO (4000). Consequently, the photo was quite grainy. I used the Define 2 filter (Nik Filters) to reduce background noise.

f/7.1 1/1600 ISO 4000 Pentax 100mm Pentax K-5.
