Penstemon bracteatus

 

Other common names include: Pride of the Mountain, Red Canyon Beardtongue, and Platy Penstemon.

 

This rare perennial species is found nowhere else in the world except for the Bryce Canyon and Red Canyon areas of Utah. This wildflower is in bloom between May-July. The perfect specimens I encountered were 2-5" in height.

 

So small, and so very perfect.
