Grilled peppers with aubergine and basil dressing

I cooked this tonight, which is why it doesn't look like much. Well, presentation isn't everything; it was rather tasty. This is enough for 2, so both you and I will be pleased I didn't eat it all. It's from Nigel Slater's cookbook.
