Mumbles Pier

We visit South Wales on a fairly regular basis and often find ourselves visiting this area of the coastline known as the Mumbles. I have no idea what it was like in its prime but like a lot of these old piers, Mumbles Pier looks to be in need of, or is currently undergoing, some major renovations. Much of the promenade deck is cordoned off or has a temporary covering over it, presumably to prevent some of its more rotund visitors from an unplanned swim. The end of the pier is in a far better state of repair and houses a modern lifeboat station.

If you look under the pier in this image, you can see the old lifeboat station. There is still access to the old lifeboat station from the pier itself, although not for the general public. The spit of land you can see on the other side of the bay is Swansea.

Thanks as always for your interest and support.
