Don’t you just love it when you get a picture to post from a trip out. And, what a red letter day (at least for me) when you get more than one... different style, different subject of course.
This image was captured on the same trip and within minutes and metres of my recently posted ‘Horse Sand Fort Barrier’ picture. If you saw the Horse Sand picture you will have noted that the sky was about as grey and monotone as they come. A relatively short period later, this is what it had morphed into!
I always had it in mind to post these two shots alongside each other to show the dramatic contrast but I have never felt happy with the processing on this one. The actual sunset was so vivid and surreal that I remember high five’ing JD (aka ‘Langstone Joe’) at the time because we both thought we had just struck togger’s gold.
The reality was somewhat short lived because the issue for both of us was that the colour in the images looked so surreal and so overpowering that they were unbelievable. Toning down the colour made them look even worse!
I generally don’t spend too long in post processing but this image has had more than its fair share of my time so it is time to get it out the way. If my ability to post process images ever gets beyond the 1979 version of that classic Penguin book, ‘how to add contrast to your holiday snaps’, I’ll endeavour to have another bash at it to do it justice!
Thanks as always for your interest and support.
