trebandicoot (Lynn)
Buff Banded Rail (Gallirallus Philippensis)
Native to Australasia and the South West Pacific region. Photographed in Roma Street Parklands, Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Walking through a city park and we both almost fell over each other. Of course the rail immediately dashed off in the other direction at 100 miles an hour. Apparently feeling safe at the water's edge she/he slowed momentarily, perhaps still moving.
I've done the best I could with this photograph, but the rail was very edgy. Seconds later it flew over to the other side and was scrambling around in some bushes that couldn't support it's weight, which looked comical. I have to feel sorry for wildlife who haven't learnt to trust photographers, especially ones that do try not to encroach on boundaries!
A very distinctly marked bird and taken at birding-o'clock (1800 hrs).
Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate all your comments. :)
