South African War Memorial in Cardiff
The Welsh memorial to the fallen of the South African War at the south end of King Edward VII Avenue in Cardiff. This memorial was unveiled by General Sir John French on 20th November 1909. The standing figure is Peace bearing an olive tree. There are two seated figures on either side of the central plinth and that of the woman, on the north-east side, represents "Grief" and holds a wreath in her left hand. This is a photograph of that seated woman
