Navigating the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct

The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct was completed in 1805 to carry narrowboats on the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee 126 feet below.

It is the tallest aqueduct in the world and is 336 yards long and 12 foot wide which includes a footpath alongside. It is World Heritage site and the structure is Grade 1 listed which gives it legal protection for alterations of demolition without prior consent from the Local Authority.
