Cottages in Wherwell *

Another photograph from my last visit to Wherwell, a lovely ancient village in the Test Valley of Hampshire.

Andover Lodge on the right is located at the entrance to a driveway leading to the Priory – part of the gates are just visible on the edge of the frame. It is a grade 2 listed building dating from circa 1830 and, as the present priory also dates from a similar period, I am guessing it was once a gatehouse controlling who was allowed into the grounds of the main house.

The white cottages to the left are mainly circa 18th century and also grade 2 listed properties. They were originally 5 separate dwellings but have now been converted to 3 separate cottages.

Grateful thanks to everyone who has looked at my photostream and commented and/or faved this photograph. Your interest is very much appreciated.

Most important of all, continue to keep safe in these increasingly uncertain times!
