Porlock Weir *
The village and harbour of Porlock Weir in West Somerset is located on the Bristol Channel and has a history going back over a thousand years to Anglo Saxon times.
Although a quiet and peaceful location now, it was once a thriving port which in the 18th and 19th century traded goods with South Wales on the opposite side of the Bristol Channel. It was also home to the building of small ships and fishing.
The main industry now is tourism, as it is a scenic area and close to the picturesque Exmoor National Park. The harbour also provides shelter for a range of sailing boats.
