Super Sentinel *

This Super Sentinel steam powered lorry was built in Shrewsbury, England in 1930 and saw an active working life until just after 1957. It was permanently loaned to the Royal Navy, specifically HMS Sultan, in 1960 where it was completely refitted and restored. It was eventually purchased by HMS Sultan in 1970 and remains in their possession until this day. It has a top speed of 20mph and consumes 1 cwt of coal every 15 miles and 10 gallons of water every mile.

This photograph was taken at Southwick, Hampshire during a D Day revival event. Not quite sure what the driver is doing hanging out of the cab and looking towards the rear of the vehicle but thought it looked more interesting than having him looking to the front!
