The Ship Inn, Porlock
Dating from the 13th century, The Ship Inn is one of the oldest buildings in the Exmoor National Park. Located in the main street of Porlock it is on the A39 road connecting the village to Lynmouth in Devon. Many holidaymakers will be familiar with Porlock through the nearby hill on the A39 - the steepest A road in the United Kingdom!
Originally, The Ship was a coaching inn and today it still provides accommodation to travellers. Quite rightly it is a Grade 2 listed building which provides legal protection from demolition or alteration without prior permission from the local authority.
