Hiking along the White Cliffs of Rügen
With over 30 square kilometers it is the smallest national park in Germany, but the nature is beautiful. In Jasmund National Park you will find high white chalkstone rocks where the water of the Baltic Sea breaks up. On top of the rocks and behind it is an old beech forest, which originated in the 13th century. The most famous part of Jasmund National Park is the Königstuhl. This is the highest chalk cliff you can find in the area and in all of Germany. This cliff is 118 meters high. Here you have a beautiful view over the Baltic Sea. Due to its diversity and old-growth forest character, it was added to UNESCO's World Heritage Site on June 25, 2011.
Het is met ruim 30 vierkante kilometer het kleinste nationale park van Duitsland, maar de natuur is er prachtig. In Nationaal Park Jasmund vind je hoge witte krijtsteenrotsen waar het water van de Oostzee op stuk slaat. Bovenop de rotsen en erachter ligt een oud beukenbos, dat is ontstaan in de 13e eeuw. Het bekendste onderdeel van Nationaal Park Jasmund is de Königstuhl. Dit is de hoogste krijtrots die je in het gebied en in heel Duitsland kunt vinden. Deze klif is 118 meter hoog. Je hebt hier een prachtig uitzicht over de Baltische Zee. Vanwege zijn diversiteit en oerboskarakter is het op 25 juni 2011 toegevoegd aan UNESCO's werelderfgoed.
