Norfolk Green 131 0930hrs King's Lynn to Fakenham 200713 (4)

With the imposing church of St Nicholas in Wells next the Sea as a backdrop, Fakenham bound King’s Lynn based Irisbus Agora 131 runs along Church Street.

Every year I try to spend a day capturing views of the award winning Norfolk Green Coasthopper service. This year the recent hot sunny weather had given way to a mixture of low cloud, sea mist and drizzle. For Summer 2013 the route has been amended with most alternate King’s Lynn/Hunstanton to Wells next the Sea journeys now continuing to Fakenham instead of Cromer, thus replacing NG service 29. As a result through passengers using these particular journeys have to change buses at the Wells Buttlands stop in both directions. On Saturday, it appears that a total of fifteen vehicles are required to operate the timetable. This figure includes a brief early morning Optare Tempo working from Wells to Fakenham and a Double Decker providing a mid morning relief between King’s Lynn and Hunstanton. The remaining thirteen scheduled buses consist of the twelve narrow Optare Solos and the Irisbus Agora all in Coasthopper livery. Although all thirteen operate over the Hunstanton to Wells section at some point during the day, only seven of them work beyond Wells to Sheringham, Cromer or Norwich. In addition to vehicles based at the King’s Lynn depot, journeys are also worked by their Cromer, Fakenham, Reepham and Tattersett outstations.
