Stagecoach 37431 1402hrs Wells-next-the-Sea to Hunstanton, 48036 1405hrs Wells-next-the-Sea to Fakenham & 48034 Wells-next-the-Sea to Cromer 031016

Assuming they are all running on time, around the hour mark throughout the day between 1000 and 1700hrs from Monday to Saturday this is the scene when the three vehicles working on Coasthopper and service 29 meet up at The Buttlands in Wells-next-the-Sea. In this shot, on the left we have ADL Enviro E200 MMC type 37431 heading for Hunstanton whilst to the right Optare Solo SR types 48034 (rear) and 48036 wait to depart for Cromer and Fakenham. Now that the Coasthopper service is split at Wells I can’t help thinking that if the buses operated their respective circuits of the town to reach this stop in the opposite direction then the Hunstanton bus would be facing west and the others east. In addition there are two shelters for two buses to the left, but only one on the right.

The winter period Coasthopper timetable commenced from Sunday 2nd October 2016 and it has once again returned to an hourly frequency over the Wells-next-the-Sea to Sheringham/Cromer section which is now operated by the recently delivered Optare Solo SR types, although not exclusively. Passengers travelling across Wells are required to change buses although as witnessed today it seems that this connection is no longer guaranteed.
