Three Young Men!
These three young men approached me in Soweto and asked me to photograph them. I was using a silent electronic shutter, so they they did not believe me when I assured them that they I had taken three photographs! They then rushed off in disbelief when I assured them that I had! Joyful requests to be photographed are very frequent in South African townships and informal settlements. Contrary to the fears of some, townships and informal settlements are generally friendly and welcoming environments. This encounter was a typically very jolly and joyful affair! :-)
