Interior View to the East, St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Liverpool, 2012
In the Orthodox tradition, the church faces East. This is a view towards the iconostasis (icon screen) which gives access to the altar. The east windows beyond are much taller, allowing light to flood the building.
The wooden bishop's throne seen on the right is contemporaneous, but the impressive chandeliers are modern replacements for the originals, which had corroded fittings.
