Forfar 1930s - J. B. Adamson Stationers - Window Advert for "The Ghost Train'

The play, 'The Ghost Train' was written by Arnold Ridley (many years later to act in 'Dad's Army' as Private Godfrey) in 1923. It became a staple for performance by amateur dramatic companies during the 1930s. It was made into a film and adapted for radio and later for television. Here's the link to the Wikipedia entry:

In Forfar Dramatic Society's production, Harold Adamson played the stationmaster who frightens the waiting passengers by his talk of the Ghost Train. Harold worked in his father's stationers in Castle Street so was well placed to do a bit of product placement through a window display. As there were only two performances I'm sure the Reid Hall would have been packed out. To view a photo of the performance, click on:
