Gran Mary (Ramsay) Macdonald of Forfar with her Family on a Picnic c. 1920
My mother with her sisters and cousins on a family picnic (Ramsay side of the family) to Justinhaugh around 1920. The two women in the hats are great-aunt Hannah (left) and Gran Mary Macdonald (further to the right.). One of her other sisters is in the middle of the back row. She and Gran look very alike. Uncle Jimmie Forsyth is at the back, holding his flute. He lived up 'the Manor' (just off Manor Street in Forfar) and owned a collection of flutes, I recognise one of his daughters, Elizabeth (Liz) Forsyth - hair down, far right. When she married she became Mrs Kydd. Her son Alaister was a good artist and became an art teacher. My mother's sisters aside, all the other children must be her cousins, but I haven't got the names. On the far left is Aunt Hannah (always known in the family as Aunt Nan). In the front row, from left to right are Aunt Susan, Aunt Violet, and my mother, Lavinia (Aunt Ina). Behind my mother is Aunt Eleanor. That's my Uncle, Jim Macdonald standing at the back, and the wee boy leaning his head towards Gran must be his young brother Jack Ramsay Macdonald, who is now (in 2014) aged 95 and the last surviving member of the group
