Blue sky over the New Danube

With cold and rainy autumn weather rolling in I felt the need to bring back some memories of summer with this three photo panorama.

Some facts...

The New Danube is a separate channel built to provide flood relief for the Danube river. Completed: 1988

The Ponte Cagrana - pontoon bridge - connects the 21 km Danube Island (Donauinsel) on the left, to Danube City on the right.

The lighthouse on Danube Island was originally built for an opera at Lake Constance in Germany - The Flying Dutchman by Wagner. The lighthouse was moved to Vienna and became part of Danube Island in 1989 although it has never been in operation.

Selected towers from right to left:

DC Tower: 220m

Danube Tower (Donauturm): 252m

Millennium Tower: 202m
