This image, from 'Ziegfeld Girl' (1941), shows (left) 19-year-old Judy Garland, who plays Susan Gallagher in the film, (centre) 27-year-old Hedy Lamarr , who plays Sandra Kolter, and (right) 20-year-old Lana Turner, who plays Sheila Regan. Miss Garland is wearing a short, dark-coloured apron over what can only be described as a light-coloured, short-sleeve mini dress. She is also wearing light-coloured shoes. Miss Lamarr is wearing what appears to be a light-coloured, lightweight, one-piece trouser suit. Miss Turner is wearing a light-coloured scarf round her neck, a light-coloured - probably white - short-sleeve top, and what can only be described as a black mini skirt, at least 25 years before the term entered popular usage. She is also wearing dark-coloured shoes. Although her hairstyle and make-up belong resolutely to the 1940s, her outfit wouldn't have looked out of place in the late Sixties or early Seventies. And didn't they have lovely legs! They are posing sitting on a prop basket, and balancing books on their heads.
