Positive-Negative Bird
Doing this bird assignment showed me what positive and negative space was, how to tell which is which, and how to draw the space around the bird. Before doing this and during class, we looked at other pictures that really showed or define the positive and negative spaces of a picture. For example, that logo with the four cows, some of the cows were shaded and some were not. It made it hard to determine which was the positive space and which was the negative. That was because the border of the whole logo was off, but using the viewfinder to find the composition of where the four black and white images of the cows shared the border, made it easier to recognize all four images of the cows. It was the same thing with looking at the cable logo in our book and trying to determine which is the picture and which is the background, it turned out to be both. I mostly used soft pencils.
