Alexandria, VA Union Station

This was built in 1905 for the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad, the Washington Southern Railway, and the Richmond, Fredricksburg, & Potomac Railroad. It is now used by Amtrak and the Virginia Railway Express. Seven Amtrak routes use this station, all the ones that run south from DC -- the Crescent, Silver Star, Silver Meteor, Carolinian, Palmetto, Cardinal and some trips of the Northeast Regional. I was here for less than 15 minutes and saw 3 Amtrak trains arrive during that time, so apparently it's pretty busy (well, a lot of trains stop here, but it's possible not too many people board here.) Unfortunately, it was Saturday when no VRE trains run.
