Circular pendants with engraving and repoussé decoration

The archaeological deposit at the Temple of Inshushinak

Large numbers of objects from various periods have been unearthed in an extremely confined space near the temple of the tutelary god of Susa. They are probably vestiges of furniture and offerings made at the sanctuary which were grouped together in a sort of hiding-place – in all likelihood in the late 12th century BC – for an unknown reason. The items displayed here represent only a small fraction of the whole and date from the Middle Elamite period.
