Szechenyi furdo
This the Szechenyi Bathhouse. For like €15 you can use it all day long. 30 minute massages are just €15 more. I didn´t get one, but only because in the men´s locker room it was all masseurs. I´m definately more of a masseuse kind of person. Not that I´m hobophobic, but there´s something about a dude kneading my naked ass with burly, calloused hands that just prevents me from being able to relax the way I´d like to during a rub down.
There were at least two dozen different spas and pools and nearly as many steam rooms and saunas. Each one listed the temperature of the water and what types of minerals were in it. I tried a few different ones. My favorite was the outside pool. It was sunny and clear, but just nippy enough that you wouldn´t want more than your head exposed out of the hot water.
Some older Hungarian dudes had brought waterproof chess sets with them are we´re playing on the pool steps. I watched a game and saw they weren´t grandmasters like I feared so I tried one of the guys. Grandmasters they may not have been but they were still better than me. I played defense the whole game before he found a hole and quickly mated me. The problem with my chess game is that I need my oponent to make a mistake, I can rarely force him to make one. Which basically means, I can beat anyone who knows how to play chess, but doesn´t usually play, and almost no one who knows the game well.
There is a 100 degree centigrade steam room here. That´s 212 degrees fahrenheit. I popped in for just a second to see what it felt like. It felt hot.
