3rd eyelid.

the third eyelid allows the bird to blink but still retain some visibility. it starts from the corner of the eye closest to the beak and flicks across. often it is frustrating when you have a bird blink when you are photographing it as it destroys the quality of the eye, thus the whole photo. this was a lucky shot where it is almost in focus.
