Barred Owl -- Strix varia

In my yard. Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.

 

This is another shot from earlier this year when barred owls nested on my property. This was taken three days after the owlets left the nest tree for good. This is one of the adults hanging out near my bird feeders, surely hoping to get lucky and snag something to feed the kids.
