Lead unit 4019 had been built by EMD in 1988. By the time of this 1998 view, 4019 had been under BNSF ownership since 1996. Later in 1998, it was renumbered tro BNSF 8719. Sometime around 2014, it was renumbered to 178. As of the early 2020s, 178 was assigned to the Newton, KS area.
