Sleeping Cherub
Cherubs/Cherubim are special types of angels. They are first mentioned in Genesis 3:24, and have 4 faces (man, ox, lion, eagle) and several pairs of wings. A putto (male chubby toddler with wings) circumvented the Biblical version of a Cherub during the Baroque period of art representing the omnipresence of God. In this touching scene, a ceramic putto was placed on a mother’s final resting place in loving memory.
