The Interesting Green Crab Spider.. Found this neon green spider on a dirt pile made by moles. It was not very happy with me being so close for its photo. Some crab spiders can even slowly change colors to match the flower they are sitting on or under, intelligent hunting behavior as an ambush hunter, Green crab spiders roam the leaves of shrubs and trees, capturing and eating roosting mosquitoes and other insects that humans consider pests, they get their name from their tendency to walk sideways or backwards with their hind legs held open to grab prey, males mature earlier than females, mate, and then die while the females live longer than males, typically until the fall, females lay their eggs in protected cases and continues to guard her eggs until cold weather arrives. The Green Crab Spider are annual, meaning they live for less than a year. ~
