Background achieved by putting a microfiber cloth behind it; DoF eliminates all hints of what it was.

 

The surface she's crawling upon isn't ice, but a plastic petri dish, whose sides are coated with PTFE - I usually use these to keep the ant contained between shots (its coated so she can't climb).
