The Alban Pilgrimage re-enacts the martyrdom of Alban - Great Britain's first martyr, beheaded by the Roman authorities around the end of the 3rd century because he had converted to Christianity, through a dramatised procession with carnival puppets in June every year.
St Albans, UK, is one of the founder members of the Green Pilgrimage Network, launched in November 2011.
The Green Pilgrimage Network is the world's first network of faith groups and pilgrim cities working together to make their sacred sites as environmentally sustainable as possible, and to encourage their pilgrims to 'tread lightly on the Earth'.
