Building Perspectives: St. Peters, Sunderland, December 2012

You can seem to make a building metamorphose just by walking around it. Quite interesting. St. Peter's, Monkwearmouth is interesting in itself: A Saxon monastery, almost totally rebuilt by the Victorians (apart from the west tower & wall). Unusually for the Victorians, (who were so full of their own sense of creativity)they rebuilt on the original Saxon foundations, consequently this Victorian rebuild has the same proportions (& feel) of the original Saxon building. I do like this set of six.......even though I say it myself. Startling blue skies helped!
