2015 01 04 Moonrise - Valleyview Drive
A crisp January evening at -23 C meant another rendezvous with the Full Moon rising over downtown Edmonton as seen from Valleyview Drive. I didn't realize just how similar this rise was to the December 7, 2014 moonrise until I finished the composite image. A near repeat! Whereas on Dec 7, the Moon was about 36 hours past full (97.5%), the Moon in this image, taken on January 4, 2015, was about 5 hours before full (99.7%). Different framing, different lighting and a slightly different position for the camera (I was at a different bench on Valleyview Drive) make for subtle and not-so-subtle differences in the final images.
